Echo and Shira

I can't believe I hadn't posted any picture of my dogs yet!!! Anyone who knows me has hear about them (too much in some cases, sorry!)

No puedo creerme que no haya puesto aun ninguna foto de mis perras!! Cualquiera que me conozca habra oido hablar de ella (mucho en algunos casos, lo siento!)

This is Echo, and I got her 4 years ago as a present from my parents! She was born the day before my birthday, and since I was a bit "desperate" about having a new pet, they thought it would be a perfect gift, and it was!

Esta es mi perrita Echo, fue el regalo de mis padres para mi cumpleaños hace 4 años!! Nacio el dia anterior, y como yo estaba un poco" desesperada" por tener un perro, decidieron que era el regalo perfecto, y acertaron!

And this is Shira. She is my sister's dog and my dog's sister :) I know, they don't look like siblings, but they are from the same litter. When my sister found out about my gift, we decided she would get one of the others puppies for her coming birthday.

Y esta es Shira. Es la perra de mi hermana, y la hermana de mi perra :) Lo se, no se parecen mucho, pero son de la misma camada. Cuando mi hermana se entero del regalo, decidimos coger otro de los cachorros para su cumple tambien. 

They are mix-dogs and we got them from a neighbor whose dog got accidentally pregnant. They are both now living with my sister, but spend some time with their grandparents too, hehe!

Son chuchillas,  nos las dio un vecino cuya perra se habia quedado accidentalmente embarazada. Ahora estan las dos viviendo con mi hermana, aunque tambien pasan mucho tiempo con los abuelos, jeje!

I took the pictures during my visit to Spain this summer, when I spent lots of time with them. I had just bath them, so they were more excited about playing than usual. So fun!

Las fotos las hice cuando estuve este verano en España, y evidentemente pase mucho tiempo con ellas. Aqui las acababa de bañar, y se pusieron a jugar como locas. Son tan graciosas!

Dog's photoshoot

I've been volunteering at the dog shelter SPCA for over a year, walking dogs and participating in their dog-mentor program. During this summer, I had also the chance to volunteer as photographer!

First, I took pictures during a Dog Behavior Workshop led by the dog trainer Dr Nee Kang (cheerfuldogs.com). I had previously helped in other of her workshops doing an exercise with Dhoby, but I think being the photographer fitted me better.

Ya hace algo mas de un año que voy como voluntaria al refugio de animales SPCA, paseajdo perros y en el programa "dog-mentor". Este verano, ademas, he tenido la oportunidad de ayudar como fotografa!

Primero hice las fotos durante un taller sobre Comportamiento de perros, conducido por la entrenadora de perros  Dr Nee Kang (cheerfuldogs.com). Ya habia ayudado en otro de sus talleres haciendo un ejercicio con Dhoby, pero creo que prefiero ayudar haciendo las fotos.

And last Saturday with did a "glamour photoshoot" with some of the dogs. It was really fun!!! I had the chance to meet some of the mentors I had never talked to before, and of course their lovely mentees. Some of the scenes were specially fun, like major wearing the "army" stuff or Minty and her mentor busking at an overhead bridge.

Y el sabado pasado hicimos una sesion fotografica con algunos de los perros. Fue muy divertido!!! Tuve ademas la oportunidad de hablar con algunos de los otros "mentors" a los que no conocia, y por supuesto a todos los "mentees". Algunas de las representaciones fueron realmente divertidas, como Major y sus complementos de la armada o Minty y su mentor tocando la guitarra en un puente.

This is Pancake. He used to jump a lot when you entered his kennel, but he is doing much better! And today he sat and waited until I took him the picture and gave him a treat.

Este es Pancake. Antes saltaba mucho cuando entrabas su jaula, pero ahora se porta mucho mejor! Y hoy se ha sentado y esperado hasta que le he hecho la foto y le he dado su premio.

I saw the butterfly and run to take some pictures before it flied away. I'm afraid it wasn't going to move.... :(

Cuando vi la mariposa fui corriendo a hacer algunas fotos antes de que se fuera volando. Me temo que no se iba a mover.... :(

This is Rox. I don't usually walk him, and today I had some problems convincing him to return to the shelter, and needed help from 2 volunteers and some salmon (pig liver and sweet potato didn't work) to get him back in his kennel, hehe! But I would probably would do the same if I were him.
I'm now going twice a week to the SPCA, and spending more time with Dhoby, Mera and Tasha (day 200, 165 and 298) and they are doing great!

Este es Rox. No es uno de los perros a los que paseo normalmente, y hoy he tenido algunos problemillas convenciendolo de que volviera a la protectora, y he necesitado la ayuda de otros dos voluntarios y un poco de salmon (el higado de cerdo y patata no han funcionado) para que volviera a su perrera, jeje! Pero yo probablemente hubiera hecho lo mismo en su caso.
Ahora voy dos veces a la semana al SPCA, y estoy pasando mas tiempo con Dhoby, Mera y Tasha (dia 200, 165 y 298) y se estan portando genial!

Korn's paws are so cute! Probably is a feature of cocker spaniels, but they are quite big for a small dog and super soft! They remind me of a teddy bear.

La patas de Korn son tan monas! Seguramente es una caracteristica de los cocker spaniel, pero son bastante grandes para un perro pequeño y super suaves! Me recordaban a las de un oso de peluche.

Dogs are so cute when they are about to sleep... :) This is Korn. We took care of him and his "brother" Elliot for 6 days and had a lot of fun. It was great having dogs again at least for a few days!!!

Los perros son tan monos cuando se van a dormir.... :) Este es Korn. Estuvimos cuidando de el y de su "hermano" durante 6 dias y lo pasamos muy bien. Echabamos de menos tener perros!!

A friend ask us to help her with some pictures she needed for a presentation. We enjoyed it a lot! Although we realized we need to update our cameras and buy, at least, new lenses.
As their faces show, these dogs were having a great time playing with each other.

Una amiga nos pidio que la ayudasemos con unas fotos que necesitaba para una presentacion. Y lo pasamos muy bien! Aunque nos dimos cuenta de que definitivamente necesitamos actualizar nuestras camaras, y comprar, al menos, una lente nueva.
Como se puede ver un sus caras, estos perros estaban disfrutando mucho jugando juntos.

This gorgeous husky is Fang. She has been pending of adoption for a long time, but she is still at the dog shelter :(

Esta fantastica husky es Fang. En su tarjeta pone desde hace tiempo que esta pendiente de adopcion, pero aun sigue en la protectora :(

This cutie is Luna. She was also SPCA dog, but she was adopted and is super happy with her family.
I had to walked her for a few days, and here she was patiently waiting for me to get ready to go for a walk.

Esta perrita tan guapa es Luna. Hace unos meses estaba en la SPCA, pero la adoptaron y ahora es super feliz con su familia.
La he tenido que sacar de paseo unos dias, y aqui estaba esperandome pacientemente a que me preparase para irnos.

This cute dog is Tasha. She is very shy with new people and scares when someone new approaches, but loves going for a walk, specially with another dog. I'm also mentoring her, together with another volunteer.

Esta perrita es Tasha. Es muy timida con la gente que no conoce, y se asusta cuando alguien nuevo se acerca, pero le encanta ir a dar un paseo, sobre todo si va con otro perro. Tambien me encargo ahora de su entrenamiento junto con otra voluntaria.

Not good quality, but it's not easy to get a picture of these iguanas, specially if you are not ready. But I managed to get my cellphone before it ran to hide.
After a year living in Singapore, it still surprises and amazes me every time I see some wild animal like iguanas.

La calidad no es muy buena, pero no es facil hacer a las iguanas, sobre todo si no estas preparado. Pero he sido capaz de sacar el movil antes de que se escondiera.
Despues de mas de un año viviendo en Singapore, aun me sorprende cada vez que veo alguno de los animales salvaje, como esta iguana.
